Rocky Bay is a leading provider of disability services, supporting thousands of children and adults across Western Australia to live with choice, independence and dignity. We are now seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team.
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role will provide transactional support to processes across all Rocky Bay services. Working closely with the Finance team you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting processes and ensuring the financial integrity of Rocky Bay.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join our team who enjoys a varied role involved in a broad range of accounting activities and gaining exposure to financial reporting and business operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintain accurate financial records in accounting system.
- Input of journal entries within the accounting system.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliation and supporting documentation.
- Assist with end of month and year end close processes.
- Assist with interim and year end statutory financial audits.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards.
- Monitor and investigate variances, ensuring timely resolution.
- Maintain fixed asset and lease registers.
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS).
- Provide financial and administrative support to operational managers and stakeholders.
About you
You are a proactive and organised finance professional with strong attention to detail and a genuine interest in developing your technical accounting and analytical knowledge. You will enjoy working with data, problem solving and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
You will bring:
- Experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar accounting position (2-3 years)
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Progress towards a CA or CPA qualification will be highly regarded
- Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- A collaborative, approachable and solutions-focused mindset
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience in disability, healthcare or community services (desirable)
