Join Our Foundation Team
Rocky Bay is opening a brand-new Youth Respite Service in Cottesloe, and we're looking for passionate people to join our foundation team.
As a member of our foundation team, you'll have the unique opportunity to help shape a brand-new service from day one, creating a safe, engaging and supportive environment helping build confidence, develop independence, for both children and families for years to come.
You'll be working in Rocky Bay's newest youth respite house, featuring fresh, purpose-built facilities in a beautiful Cottesloe location, just a short walk from the beach.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of something from the very beginning while helping create meaningful experiences for children and young people with disability.
Flexible Casual Role
We're currently recruiting casual team members to help establish this exciting new service. Casual employment offers flexibility to work around study, family commitments or other employment, while gaining valuable experience supporting children and young people with disability.
As the service grows and roster patterns become established, there may be opportunities for increased hours and permanent employment for high-performing team members.
About the Role
As a Youth Respite Support Worker, you'll support children and young people with disability to build confidence, develop independence, participate in meaningful activities and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.
No two days are the same. You may be:
- Supporting children to participate in community activities
- Building daily living and independence skills
- Playing games, sports and creative activities
- Supporting friendships and social connections
- Assisting with meals and daily routines
- Helping children feel safe, included and empowered
Working within a 24-hour respite environment, you'll build genuine relationships with children and families while supporting a range of individual needs.

- Youth Workers
- Disability Support Workers
- Child and Family Support Workers
- Education Assistants, particularly Special Needs Education Assistants
- Community Services Workers
- Allied Health Assistants
- University students studying Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Psychology, Social Work, Nursing or Education
- People with experience supporting children and young people with disability or complex support needs
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply.

- A commitment to safeguarding and child-safe practices
- Cultural awareness and trauma-informed approaches to support
- The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Highly Regarded Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Youth Work
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
- Certificate IV in Disability
- Community Services qualifications
- Other relevant qualifications within health, education or human services
Training and Development
Successful candidates will complete Rocky Bay's comprehensive induction program, followed by specialised training tailored specifically to the Youth Respite Service. Rocky Bay is also a Recognised Training Organisation (RTO) that can deliver in house Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability).
